「&AND」とは、映画と現実世界との間に生まれる場所で、実践的に世界を思考していくための運動体。“映画”をその制作過程から上映・研究活動まで、一繋がりの“場所の生成”として捉え直すことで、鑑賞作品としての映画という概念ではなく、関係の生成装置としての映画という概念を軸に活動を展開する。

現実世界との関わりの中で進行する映画の制作行為は、必然的に現実的空間の中での人々の共同作業を必要とする。その共同性を肯定するために、従来のピラミッド式ヒエラルキーによる映画制作から離れて、人と人・人と場所・場所と場所どうしが生みだす関係性のただ中で「と」という境界自体を見つめること。映画とは、誰かのものではなく、どこかのものでもなく、どんなものでもない。接続詞としての映画行為は、人々が日々営む生活と広大な現実世界とを連結していく可能性そのものである。

“&AND” is an active body, which serves as a ground for us to practically consider the world from a place emerging between a film and a real world.We see “a film”, from a process of filmmaking to screening and researching, as a continuum of “place producing” effects, so as to develop our activities with a concept of taking a film not to be just viewed but as machinery to produce a variety of relationships.

Filmmaking in touch with a real world inevitably requires people to collaboratively work in a real space.To answer yes to the collaboration, we look the boundary, that is “& (AND)”, in relationships among people, between people and place, and between place and place, away from a traditionally pyramidal and hierarchical way.A film is neither belonging to someone or somewhere as well as is not even like anything.Filmmaking functioning as conjunction represents potential to link daily activities to a broad real world.
